Trusted Interns is an online platform that connects first-time-job-seekers to employers. In January of 2019 I joined their #ShiftTomorrow campaign which gave away half a million rand’s worth of career advancement opportunities to youth and graduates. The campaign saw major by success being placed on eNCA, Cape Talk, Voice of the Cape and Smile Radio while also being covered in the Cape Argus, Business Report, The Tatler, Bizcommunity and MyCityByNight.

In 2020 Shift Tomorrow took a new form with their #GiveTheYouthAchance campaign, a three-part initiative that aimed to give the youth Hope, Access and Opportunity. The campaign saw trending success, especially as a result of Trusted Intern’s partnership with Uber and was once again featured by a number of house-hold media titans such as the Cape Argus, eNCA, Business Insider, Radio 702, KFM, DispatchLIVE, Radio2000, The Daily Sun, and The South African.

When working on SA Cocktail Week in 2019, I oversaw the implementation of their marketing campaign, some of which included traditional P.R, flyers, street-pole posters, paid print ads and paid radio ads. I started my career as a freelance Public Relations practitioner in 2015 and have since worked on a number of brands, particularly small businesses and start-ups, bringing them resounding results, with often very small budgets. This includes live music events, album launches, photography exhibitions, new website launches and profile features on artists.

“Working with Shakirah was a game-changer for our business. We planned a meaningful campaign with no understanding of how to communicate our message to the masses. We met with Shakirah and within days, she refined our message and made sure we were in newspapers and on radio and TV. We’re planning our next campaign now and inviting her to handle our PR again was a no-brainer.”
